Discover the Best Spots for Holiday Lights in St. Louis, MO

For children and adults alike, the joy of the holidays has much to do with the lights and decorations. Luckily, St. Louis Christmas lights abound not only up and down various residential areas, but also in the parks and various businesses throughout our community.

Here at Greenmar Apartments, Fenton's premier apartment community, we love to help our residents discover new and exciting holiday activities, which is why we've compiled a list of the best spots to see holiday and Christmas lights around the city. Let's dive in!

Visit Winter Wonderland at Tilles Park This Year

For nearly forty years, Tiles Park has transformed into a winter wonderland with more than 100 displays comprised of more than one million lights within the 75-acre park. You don't have to get out of your car to see the lights. Everyone can stay snuggled inside while viewing the lights nightly, from mid-November through January 3, between 5 and 9 pm.

No reservations are needed, so if you decide you would like to venture out one evening without really having a plan, Tiles Park's Winter Wonderland is a wonderful choice. Note, however, the display will be closed on Christmas and New Year's Eve.

Tickets can usually be purchased online in advance or with cash at the gate. For more information, view St. Louis County's website. But check out pictures from last year here

Check Out the Wild Lights at the St. Louis Zoo

Another annual tradition is the St Louis Zoo Christmas lights decorations, called Wild Lights. Between 5 and 8:30 pm, over one million twinkling lights will shine as you stroll through the Holiday Market, sip on some hot chocolate, and, perhaps, have the chance to visit Santa and have your picture taken with him ahead of his big day. Wild Lights is open from November 28 through December 28, although it is closed on December 24 and 25.

Every evening the Penguin & Puffin Coast is open to Wild Lights visitors with the last entry at 8 pm. During this time, you can also view California sea lions and harbor seals swimming above you at Sea Lion Sound. All other animal exhibits are closed during these special evening events except for the Insectarium where you can see one of the only areas dedicated to bugs in North America. Tickets purchased in advance for a specific day and time are advisable and may be purchased online. Parking is free. Learn more on the zoo's website

See the Garden Glow at the Missouri Botanical Gardens

Another favorite in St. Louis Christmas Lights appears at the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis, which glows with more than two million lights illuminating flowers and fireflies alike. This year, new exhibits show off the Tower Grove House in a whole new light, too.

The Missouri Botanical Garden Christmas Lights show offers fabulous memories for the people of all ages. But for a bit of quiet time, check into the adult-only hours of Garden Glow. Check into the dine and glow package or private fire pit rental.

Santa will be visiting on limited days, and don't forget the Holiday Flower and Train Show included with Garden Glow admission. Garden Glow is open from mid-November through January 3, although it is closed on December 24 and 25. There is limited capacity every night, so be sure to purchase tickets in advance.

For more information, see the Botanical Gardens website.
